Wood sustainability for Brazil
The team in China, together with our partners in Germany and Brasil, kicked of the first shipment for a new production line in sustainable MDF plant in Brasil. Despite the hurdles presented by COVID, the shipments were loaded on time and within budget.
Construction is expected to begin at the end of the first half of this year, and the unit is expected to begin operating in the last quarter of 2022. The expansion will provide the country with one of the most modern plants in the world, highly productive, sustainable and with state-of-the-art equipment including an innovative system in which the natural moisture of the wood is reused for steam generation through an evaporator in closed circuit without effluent emissions. The new facility also mainly uses wood waste for the production of the plywood, which through the manufacturing process, is turned into quality MDF.
