Expanding Capacity
The teams in Singapore and Indonesia completed the mobilisation of large amounts of dredging equipment, which was required to start the expansion of a new container terminal in Makassar, Indonesia. The teams were in charge of the mobilisation from three locations, the marshalling in Singapore and onward shipment to the final destination. Everything was done under tight timelines and under constant supervision of our port captains.
As the current port of Makassar is reaching near maximum capacity, the port operator decided to increase land capacity by 45 hectares. The expansion project is expected to add an additional capacity of 1.5 million TEUs in its first phase and designates the port as hub for the rest of Eastern Indonesia, in accordance to the current government’s maritime axis program.
